Intensive Training Sessions Day 1
Last November 11-12, the finalists of the young innovators involved in the Safe and Sound Cities Innovation Challenge in Baguio City underwent an Intensive Training Session. Through discussions, panel presentations, creative collaborations, and mentoring – the ideas of the young innovators were further fleshed out and improved.
To provide a context and history of Baguio, Ms. Joanna Cariño gave a discussion on how Kafagway (now known as Baguio) was built and the current issues it faces today. Ms. Karmin Yañgot, Anthropology professor of University of the Philippines Baguio, provided a lecture on place-making and relational wellbeing as approaches in making the city safe and sound.
The young innovators also presented their proposals in front of revered panels for comments and suggestions. We thank Arch. Donna Tabangin (CPDSO Head), Mr. Philip Felipe (KIYO Country Representative), Ms. Lovely Reformado (UC ITTO), Mr. Franz Calanio (NUSP), Ms. Luchie Maranan (Baguio artist and writer), Atty. Marben Panlasigui (Human rights lawyer), Ms. Abigail Anongos (CWEARC Executive Directress), and Ms. Lingling Claver (Zero Waste Baguio) for giving their valuable insights as panelists. Mr. Christian Dave Ruz and Ms. Keidy Transfiguracion of CYC were also part of the panelists.
